Frosty Bones
The act of skiing is inherently joyful, this is not just fact, it is the living and breathing truth of the ski community in Bozeman,Montana. But what happens when the only time spent in community is spent doing the fun part? When we leave so minimal time to discuss aspects of our community crying to be brought into light? From an identity crisis at its very core to severe mental health instability, Frosty Bones is a personal reflection of the culturally dead aspects within freeride skiing.
This series portrays my processing of a culturally dead Rocky Mountain ski culture. In it, I address aspects I believe to be some of the most toxic within sport. Discussing the “Gnarlier than Thou” attitude between skiers, the heavy pressure mounted within social groups, and so on. Each factor ties into the “Skier Identity” that appears rough to the outside eye but in actuality is a truly a brittle capsule.
